Yamaha’s gorgeous new 800s
Naked as well as faired versions to be sold soon
Yamaha recently posted a few teasers of a new 800cc machine on their European website. To be christened the FZ8 (naked) and the Fazer8, the bikes will go on sale in Europe soon. It is also rumored that they will act as a replacement for the FZ6, however, we at BIKE India really don’t buy this myth.
Basically seen as grownup FZ6s, the new bikes will feature an 800cc motor with tuning for low and midrange. It is reported to be an all-new version of the company’s 16-valve inline four motor. The 800cc powerplant is likely to be based on Yamaha’s supersport engine architecture found in bikes like the YZF-R1 and YZF-R6, though its rev ceiling won’t be as elevated so as to improve midrange torque rather than a top end burst. Expect power and torque peaks of around 120bhp and 88Nm. Some see the new bikes as an answer to the likes of the BMW F 800 R and the Aprilia Shiver 750. The images seen here show the front fairing which comprises of a vertically stacked twin lamp setup complete with the Yamaha logo on the top light. The official unveiling is scheduled for March 12, 2010.
