Video: Bimota Moto2 Racer Caught Lapping

With the officially unveiling of the 2010 Moto2 race bikes still a few weeks away, a video of Bimota’s Moto2 entry has found its way onto the internet. With the Italian firm linked to a couple other Moto2 chassis, this race bike will be the first officially supported racing effort from Bimota in nearly 10 years. The video, found on YouTube, shows the bike sitting still and taking laps at Binetto race track near Bari, Italy. Check it out after the jump.

Bimota announced back in February that they’d likely enter into the Moto2 series, either as a chassis designer or as a racing team. It seems both those options have been tapped, as FB Corse will likely run a Bimota designed chassis in addition to Bimota’s own racing effort.

Sharpie Sport Bike

Shiyonin Makes It’s Mark with Sharpie

sportbike

Now this is what I call HOT WHEELS! As a kid you were probablly told to never draw on anything with a Sharpie. Heck, you probablly tell yourself that even as an adult! Well leave it to two young guys in Jacksonville, North Carolina to break the rules and go to town on a $10,000 Honda sportbike!

Spending over 50 hours tagging this bike, Jesse Lockhart, 25, and Nick Schuman, 27, went by their own rules, took out their Sharpies and simultaneously began drawing on opposite sides of Schuman’s brother-in-law’s sportbike. The duo decided to name it Shiyonin, meaning “Servant of God,” reflecting their oriental backgrounds. And with no professional background, Schuman and Lockhart, with a total of only 4 Sharpies, uncapped their creativity and drew whatever came to mind!

You may want to take a second, third, even a fourth look at Shiyonin because every time you look, you are sure to find something new! And no Sharpie fans, you are not seeing things- I asked and yes, that is the Michelin Man and Woody the Woodpecker! Check out these pictures and learn about how Jesse Lockhart and Nick Schuman used their talent to create one AMAZING piece of work.

sport bike3

Tell me a little about you and everyone who contributed! My name is Jesse Lockhart, I’m a 25 yr old male and Nick Schuman is a 27 yr old male. Our wives definitely had a big role in contributing to this bike because alongside our 9-5 work week, we had to work on the bike after hours, LATE into the night. One of our biggest contributors, we would both have to say is Jesus, for giving us the talent to do it.

How long have you been riding? I started when I was 8 on dirtbikes, so for 17 years I have been riding. Nick has been riding for 15 years, starting when he was 12, on an minibike.

Do you have an art background? Professional artists? We both have had artistic talent since we were young. Our minds have always seen things differently that the most people don’t usually see – Curves, Colors, Shapes, Texture! We are not professional yet, but we sport bike 6are well on our way to becoming full-time custom painters.

What made you decide to Sharpie up this HOT bike? We are in the process of opening our own custom paint shop and we wanted to do something that would definitely stand out amongst the crowd and shine some light on our business. This bike was actually done for Nick’s brother in-law, who was more than willing to lend a bike to get tagged when he heard the idea of a “Sharpie bike.”

Why Sharpie? Why did you go with Black & White? Nick and I have always been big fanS of white vehicles ( Both of us and our wives all have white vehicles). White is very clean and the bike itself is mostly black, so it was kind of a no-brainer that we would both want to do black over white. All our lives we were told to never to write on anything with a Sharpie because it was PERMANENT, so when we had the chance to use a Sharpie on something big and important like a $10,000 machine, we were all over it!

Moto: KTM And Mid-Ohio Team Up

Based on the success of the 2009 KTM Race_Orange Track Day Experience, the program was expanded to four events for 2010. The events are unique as KTM preps and provide motorcycles for each participant. Models available include the KTM 1190 RC8 R, 1190 RC8, 990 SMR and 690 Duke. The cost is an exceptional value at $275 which includes use of the KTM motorcycle, fuel, tires and track day fee. It is truly an ‘Arrive and Ride’ event.

The program serves two purposes; not only does it provide an opportunity for riders to get on track without the need to transport their bikes to the facility, but it also gives them a chance to ride the latest lineup of KTM street bikes.

“We are really excited that KTM and The Mid-Ohio School have expanded to four Race_Orange Track Day Experience sessions for 2010. This gives more enthusiasts the opportunity to burn laps on a ‘Ready to Race’ KTM motorcycle at a prestigious race track,” remarked John Hinz, Product Line Manager at KTM North America.

This is a premium event limited to 75 participants and all skill levels are welcome. Riders will be split into three groups riding in multiple 20-minute sessions throughout the day. The first two will be ‘sport’ groups, consisting of novice and intermediate riders and the final ‘super sport’ group will encompass advanced intermediate and expert participants.

“Last year’s KTM Race_Orange Track Day Experience format was a huge success for both KTM and The Mid-Ohio School. The 60 spots available on each date sold out within a week of the announcement, so we wanted to open it up to more riders this year. With room for 75 participants on each of four dates in 2010, this year should provide an even greater opportunity for riders from across the country,” said Steve Bidlack, director of The Mid-Ohio School.

KTM has been the official motorcycle of The Mid-Ohio School since 2008. For more information or to sign up for the KTM Race_Orange Track Day Experience at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, please visit www.midohioschool.com or call 877-793-8667.

KTM, founded in 1953, is the second largest European motorcycle manufacturer specializing in “Ready to Race” street and off-road motorcycles and ATVs. Proven successes in worldwide competition are embodied into the design and function of each KTM race machine. KTM has built a reputation for high-quality premium race ready machines suitable for street and off road race competition and recreation. With more than 160 World Championships and counting, the technology, design and performance of KTM continues to race past the competition time and again.

The Mid-Ohio School provides professional driving and riding instruction to drivers and motorcyclists of all skill levels. The school’s 16 automobile courses include Defensive Driving, High Performance and Racing. The motorcycle side features three Performance Track Riding formats. Students enjoy classroom sessions, skill drills, expert private instruction and lapping on the same track that challenges the world’s top racers. In 17 seasons, The Mid-Ohio School has 34,000 graduates, including 11,400 teenagers.
