Review of the 2007 Yamaha FZ1 and FZ1 video
1 of the best bikes i own.
Review of the FZ1 submitted on 2008-09-08.
I have been riding for about 5 years and i have been doing overseas touring. The bikes i rode before are ´95 cbx750,´00 cb600 hornet, 01´ rxz135, ´98 cb400,´98 wr200,´00 xr400,´02 fazer 600, ´06 cbr600rr, and now currently ´07 fz1n. Its up to readers´ discretion to believe. What i can review about this bike is that is has plenty of power for urban riding and touring,a considerable speed and powerband for track but has low ground clearance. Ergonomically it´s a compromise of sporty and comfort. The seat is rather hard though. The fuelling better than the previous year but there is still a minor glitch while accelerating in low gears. Rear shock abit soft and brakes is just adequate, not fantastic. Other than that,it´s a bike that can do all, depending on your mods and set up. Mods for my black fz1n: steel-braided hose, aftermarket signal lights, smoked windscreen, aftermarket belly pan and radiator cover and radiator, frame and swingarm slider, aftermarket carbon fibre mirrors. soon to come..exhaust,air filter and pc3.

2008 YAMAHA R6 and R125 nad its video
Yamaha have released these pics of the 2008 R6 and R125 bikes. The 2008 R6 gets a mild style makeover, new chassis and swingarm, freshly fettled 599cc engine with titanium valves, slipper clutch and better front brakes.
With the new YZF R6, Yamaha are going all out on the performance front – they’ve increased the engine’s compression ratio from 12.8:1 to 13.1:1 and fitted their YCC-I (Yamaha Chip-Controlled Intake) system found on the 2007 R1. This system essentially comprises of a variable-length air-intake system which boosts power at higher revs. The 2008 R6 also gets remapped fuel injection for better throttle response.
2008 R6 paintjobs look good, but we're still undecided about the gold painted wheels....
The new R6's chassis gets a magnesium alloy subframe, which is supposed to improve mass centralization. Other changes are increased brake rotor thickness for better heat dissipation, and new colour schemes. The 2007 Honda CBR600RR had thrashed the Yamaha R6 in most bike magazine shootouts this year.Whether the 2008 R6 can claw its way back to the top remains to be seen...
The learner legal 2008 Yamaha YZF R125

For those who are just starting off with bikes, Yamaha have also shown the new YZF R125, which is learner legal. The bike is fitted with a liquid-cooled, four-valve, 124cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine, which is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Styling cues are taken from the latest R6, which is so important when there are teenaged girlfriends to impress…

Yamaha R1 – The First Official Super Bike in India and video
Yamaha became the first player in the Indian motorcycle market after launching their premium bikes R1 and MT01. Finally, we see some Moto GP bikes here and it’s a treat for motor race lovers in this sub continent. The re-designed LED taillights and headlights are an addition to the stylish looks of the new Yamaha R1 bike. In fact, Yamaha R1 is certainly the most technically advanced bike in the Indian market and is the first Open-class production motorcycle.
The bikes were imported from Europe and are powered with 998 cc engine. The R1 looks more sturdy than classy. The best features of the bike are its ergonomics, steering and the overlook of the bike is quite appealing. It definitely a better version when compared to the previous model.
Looks and Handling: The LED tail lights and headlights of Yamaha R1 are sure eye-catchers. The bike is designed with bigger ram air-intake and the windscreen is an otherwise screw less journey in this bike. The digital gauge has lap meter, clock, shift light, dual trip meters and also temperature reader, so it is comes with many functions. The 15,000-rpm analogue tachometer is another feature that cannot be ignored. The radial tyres provide a great grip and can be handled comfortably. The foot pegs are lightweight and are quite durable.
What is still interesting is that the Yamaha R1 weight is reduced with the well-designed hollow bolts and fasteners. There is also a great provision for tool kit storage under the back seat. The bike has a lightweight battery (8.6 AH).
Engine Power: Yamaha R1 runs on a powerful 4 cylinder engine of 998 cc DOHC with 20 valves. The bike is engineered with the chip control throttle technology that can control 32 bit EU fuel injection, which delivers great power. For an instant power liberation there is electronically devised funnel length between 60-140mm. In the rear end of the bike is the fuel tank and the ram-air-fed air box is fixed in the front to generate more power to the bike.
Yamaha R1 has a narrow engine and chassis and is also well equipped to reduce shocks. The four cylinders have enormous power and throttle is built by what is called YCC T fly-by-wire process that gives darn good control of the vehicle.
Yamaha R1 has another feature which is the aggressive R1 power plant, and it’s built with a variable length intake tunnel system which can be electronically controlled and there is an option of torque-limiting clutch so one can slow down the bike speed. The disc brakes of the new Yamaha R1 are also very efficient. The bike can touch high velocities within less time courtesy the six-speed gearbox. The aluminium Delta box frame helps in easy and hassle free ignition. The 5-spoke wheels are dynamic and they have the ability to bring the bike into a sudden halt.
Final Say: The gearbox and brakes performance of the bike are excellent. The control system and the power of the bike are great assets of the R1. The 8 headlights are superior and enhance the look of the bike. The bike is fast and zooms well on road because of its lightweight. On the downside, you can feel the vibrations at high speed and riding position is a little uncomfortable.
And you need to exert more pressure and transfer weight to the front while in the corners. The seats get hotter with increasing speed because the pipes are right below. Yamaha R1 bike is available in some interesting colors such as Team Yamaha Blue, Charcoal Silver and Candy Red color variants. But this big bike is priced exuberantly at Rs 11.5 lakhs. If are a bike lover and don’t see for money you will never regret owning the new Yamaha R1. There will be several heads turning to you as you and your new Yamaha R1 vroom on the roads.
Yamaha FZ15 and video
The FZ-150 "Prototype" shown in the Auto Expo 2008 has a 150 cc engine, carburettor (instead of fuel injection), fat rear tyres (about as big as Pulsar 200/220 rear tyres), air cooled engine (not liquid cooled like the YZF-R15), 5 speed gearbox (insted of a 6 speed one on the YZF-R15) and also the FZ-150 doesn't have the "delta" frame of the YZF-R15.
Maybe the only change that Yamaha India needs to make in the FZ-150 is change the rear tyres from the impossibly fat (for a 150 cc) to the ones found on the Pulsar 150's and the Apache's. Apart from the tyre change the looks of the FZ-150 should be left untouched
It is based on totally race technology with which MotoGP bikes runs, technology with which R1 is built. It is India’s first 150cc 4 valve engine. It is India’s first Bike with forged pistons. It is India’s first Bike with a Diasil Cylinder. It is India’s first Bike with the Deltabox frame, again based on the R1. And it is India’s first Bike with a 6speed gear box.
It is Fuel Injected and will hit the market in June 2008 .The rear tyres though are only a mere 100, MRF uses imported Soft compound to give it better grip than similar sized tyres.
We can expect a prize of INR 80000/- for a beast like this. Never care for the CC. I hope it will have 20+ bhp and a top speed somewhere near 140kmph.

Yamaha FZ 150 motorcycle launch in November 2008 and video
|
Yamaha FZ 150 motorcycle will debut in India in later half of 2008 at an expected price of Rs 90,000 and Rs 70,000 on-road Delhi.
3 March, 2008
After the big news of the upcoming launch of the Yamaha YZF-R15, almost nothing else seems worth waiting for and then you see the Yamaha FZ 150 cc motorcycle. You can see the official photo f the FZ 150 above - you know what I am talking about.
More than a decade back, I rode around on the streets f Mumbai, shit-scared, on a BMW F650 Funduro. The bike cost more than Rs 4 lakhs, and was an unqualified disaster when it came to sales. But it had a stance which reminded Mumbaikars of a stallion. Crowds gathered wherever I parked it.
The Yamaha FZ revealed for the first time at Auto Expo 2008 they call it a prototype reminded me of the F650 with its color scheme and upright stance. But the FZ looks more modern for sure. Yamaha says that the FZ 150 is just a prototype. Nobody in the motoring press believes them. Chances are, this 150 cc air-cooled motorcycle will make it into production towards the end of 2008.
You have basically the same engine as the YZF-R15 Yamaha on the Yamaha FZ 150, but this is more a road-and-track motorcycle than the YZF, which has racing pretensions even in the 150 cc guise.
Yamaha YZF-R15 motorcycle launched and video of R15
Biking just got hotter with the new Yamaha YZF-R15. Japan’s global bike giant Yamaha is rolling out the brand new sports motorcycle YZF-R15 for India motorcycling enthusiasts.
The YZF-R15 will be the first motorcycle in India with six gears after the old Yamaha RD 350. The engine is a liquid-cooled, four-stroke single cylinder four-valve fuel injected engine. Liquid cooling on the YZF R15 is a first for motorcycles in India. The 150cc engine produces 16 bhp. A lot of people would not be all that happy with that 150 cc specification of the YZF-R15. However, the 16 bhp and 6 gears would keep a lot of wannabe racers satisfied.
In India, Yamaha Motor Pvt Ltd’s stylish 150 cc high-end bike will take on the market segment so far ruled by Hero Honda’s Karizma, Bajaj Pulsar 220 DTS-FI and TVS Apache RTR.
How would it fare on the road against the Karizma? Initial guesses are that this 150cc crotch rocket would beat the Karizma in acceleration stakes. Top speeds are another issue altogether. However, we will have to wait for the initial test rides of the YZF-R15 to come in to have any clarity at all on this.
Yamaha India believes that the new model would kick start a new experience altogether for Yamaha enthusiasts. The model is being tipped as one of the most technologically advanced bikes in India. Yamaha in India is aggressively promoting YZF-R15, which will come sporting a price tag of close to Rs 100,000, and is targeting a sale of 25,000 units between now and December.
The pricing is a surprise. It was believed, post Auto-Expo 2008, that this motorcycle is likely to be priced quite a bit above Rs 1 lakh when it hits the roads. Yamaha has taken care of that; psychologically, that rs 1 lakh marke is a killer and might have ruined its chances in India.
The YZF-R15 motorcycle, looks-wise, takes after the Yamaha R1 superbike. The motorcycle is available in two colours, racing blue and black. This is also India’s first motorcycle with a full-fairing in front – lookswise, we can safely call it the best in the market.
Positioning it properly for the Indian market, Yamaha hopes for a re-emergence in the country’s bike mart after a slew of commuter bikes which the company ahs been churning out in the last decade after the iconic Yamaha RX 100.
As part of the launch, the company has also unveiled a series of events with test rides and is happy with the response. Yamaha Motor India Pvt Ltd today it plans to invest about Rs 800 crore in the next three years for product development, capacity expansion and marketing initiatives.
Bajaj’s new pulsar 180cc and video
Once again it seems that Bajaj has reworked the strategy, Bajaj has come up with an upgraded pulsar 180cc. Earlier we informed you about Bajaj’s plan of upgrading pulsar family of motorcycles and refurbished pulsar 200cc and pulsar 220cc was expected. The apache RTR 180cc seems to be the cause for Bajaj’s change in strategy. The new pulsar 180cc gets tank scoops borrowed from the successful pulsar 200cc. Other changes includes
* New pulsar 180cc gets the stouter 37mm fork assembly at the front
* The contemporary all black theme is carried forward in the new pulsar 180cc . From the forks to engine to rear suspension everything gets matte black finish
* Split seat and split grab rail for the new pulsar 180cc like its sibline pulsar 200cc
* New pulsar 180cc borrows the box section swingarm from its elder sibling pulsar 220cc. Larger forks at the front and box section swingarm at the rear means more fun for hardcore bikers
* The DTS-i engine (no fuel injection) now generates slightly more power. The power output of new pulsar 180cc is 17.02PS at 8500rpm compared to the earlier 16.5bhp at 8000rpm
* New pulsar 180cc has a wheelbase of 145mm which means 25mm longer than the current one.
* Kick lever is thrown out and ignition is only through battery in the new pulsar 180cc
* New pulsar 180cc also gets a new rear sprocket and the O-ring chain
* Clip-on handlebar in the new pulsar 180cc to take on the likes of apache RTR
* New pulsar 180cc gets larger 120 section tyre at the rear which is sure to help your wheelie.
The new pulsar 180cc is expected to hit the showrooms by the end of April.
New Pulsar 135LS launched and video
It's finally here! Bajaj has launched the 135cc Pulsar in New Delhi. Called the Pulsar 135LS, the motorcycle is powered by the first Indian engine that has 4 valves. The engine puts out 13.5 PS peak power at 9,000 rpm and 11 Nm peak torque at 7,500 rpm. The Pulsar weighs a light 122kg, giving it a power-to-weight ratio that allows it to challenge most 150cc rivals.
What else is new about this bike? The cradle-frame chassis on the other Pulsars gives way and the engine is mounted as a stressed unit. The bike also sports clip-on handlebars, a step-seat, Nitrox shock absorbers, tachometer and digital speedo with a fuel gauge.
At a price of Rs 51,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) the 135LS looks set to take its class by storm.
Stay tuned for our first riding impressions.

Indian Super bike avd its video
Hi. Can you tell me a bike which changed the driving style of Indian youths? Of course, the name on every lip is nothing other than Bajaj Pulsar.
The slogan of Bajaj “Distinctly Ahead” is what the Pulsar is proving on road. This Bike has broken all the selling records in India. Now Hero Honda is also introducing Karizma 225CC. But still Bajaj deserve a big hand for introducing followings in Indian Bike.
The new digital console is an advanced version of the latest Pulsar family. Apart from the Digital Odometer, Digital Speedo Meter, Digital Fuel Gauge and two Digital Trip Meters, the console on the 200 cc Pulsar DTS-i has indicators for Air filter condition, Engine temperature, Battery voltage and Oil level, all of which contribute to enhancing rider info for trouble-free riding. Another first is the use of split seats for styling and comfort. The split grab rail perfectly compliments the new rear chiseled looks. It is also the first Indian bike to have electric start as the sole means of engine cranking, dispensing with the kick lever.
Now the war is between Pulsar 220CC and Karizma 225CC. Let see who will be the winner of Indian youth’s heart. But my favorite is Pulsar 220cc.

Bajaj pulsar 250 supermotard concept and video
Here is the Press Release.
Mumbai,23rd June 2009: Bajaj Auto Ltd., today announced the launch of 2009 Pulsar 250 edition. With this launch, Bajaj Auto has raised the bar in performance biking segment quite a few notches higher – the Pulsar 250 has now evolved to become the fastest Indian with the amazing top speed of 225 km/hr.
The new 250 gets the performance boost with a 32 venturi carburetor, the biggest ever used in India. In addition, the intake port in the cylinder head has been modified, along with higher lift and duration cam. A larger resonator and catalytic converter is also used to increase performance. The higher engine performance achieved has been matched to a modified fifth gear ratio, to make the new Pulsar 250 “The Fastest Indian”.
We have come to the best bit yet… the new Pulsar 250 DTSi as predicted has been priced at Rs 2,00,000 Ex-Showroom, Delhi which makes it one of the best VFM performance bike out there…. Power to the People, Bajaj’s Way!
He further added, “We have been the market leaders by far in the premium segment of the motorcycle market, and now with the launch of the 09′250 seres, we will further strengthen our foothold.”
Bajaj Pulsur 200
Bajaj-Pulsar : - 200
It doesn’t happen every other month but at times, you just know when a bike is destined to strike a high note. Hero Honda did it with its CBZ a few years ago and we think Bajaj’s Pulsar 200 DTS-Fi has the trappings of becoming a similar landmark bike in India. We first sighted the 200 at the Auto Expo last year, rode it for a few laps for our August 2009 issue and since then couldn’t wait to get our hands on one for a road test. But does this much-awaited bike successfully translate strategy to become a sought-after motorcycle? :
DESIGN AND ENGINEERING
Pulsar ancestry is clearly visible in the new 200cc DTS-Fi. But what strikes the eye is how cleverly the bike hides its 150kg bulk. Bajaj’s latest creation is compact and will look just right to the average Indian rider. The voluminous front fairing packs away ample tuck-in area and houses a set of vertically stacked headlights that are clearly the best yet on any Indian bike. Twin 55W projector low beam and 70mm parabolic high beam transform inky nights into day, helping keep nasty surprises on the road at bay.
On the flip side, the attractive fairing-mounted mirrors reflect little other than the rider's elbows. The backlit switchgear feels perfect to the touch and is totally contact-free, also featuring self-cancelling turn indicators. Grips and brake and clutch levers are adequate. Look ma, no bulbs! Only amber-coloured LEDs are used for the instruments, dominated by a large analogue rev counter. A contact-free digital speedometer drive displays precise speeds in a digital read-out. An engine-redline flasher strobes out its communication when the bike is over-revved; the same light doubles up as a low-fuel warning icon.
Bajaj has persevered with the same tank on the 200, adding embossed decals and a tank pad. The stepped seat is adequately padded for both rider and pillion and ends in a smart two-piece grab bar. Angular side panels and a smooth tail fairing add panache, as do strips of nifty LED brake warning lights.
The DTS-Fi’ got an unabashedly sporty riding position with low clip-on handlebars and decidedly rear-set footrests. And, it’s built to seat a rider high that will please shorter riders. The DTS-Fi uses substantial forks, a twin-member tubular frame and an elliptical swingarm mounted on needle roller bearings. Gas-charged twin shocks are used at the rear. Chunky MRF tubeless tyres —90/90 x 17 inches in front and 120/80 x 17 inches at the rear — are as good as they get.
